  • Where to Watch Oscar-Winning Films

     Canal+:

    • “Anatomy of a Fall”: Justine Triet’s film, which won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, continues to be screened in France since its release in August 2023.
      The feature film is also available on the Canal+ platform and VOD on Canal VOD and Arte.
    • “Barbie”: The song “What Was I Made For,” performed by Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas in Greta Gerwig’s film “Barbie,” won the Oscar for Best Original Song.
      “Barbie,” the colorful blockbuster from Mattel, is now accessible on Canal+.

    Prime Video:

    • “American Fiction”. Adapted from Percival Everett’s novel “Erasure” (2004), the film “American Fiction” won the award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
      This satire of racism in the United States, directed by Cord Jefferson, has been available on Prime Video since February 27th.

    Netflix:

    • “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar”: For the first time in his career, Wes Anderson won an Oscar.
      His film “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar” received the award for Best Fiction Short Film.
      The medium-length film, whose release went almost unnoticed, is available on Netflix.

    Multiple Platforms:

    • “Oppenheimer”: Christopher Nolan portrays the journey of Robert Oppenheimer, the inventor of the nuclear bomb, in “Oppenheimer.”
      The film, acclaimed with seven Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director, is available for rent or purchase on most platforms, including Prime Video, YouTube, Apple TV, and Canal VOD.

    YouTube & Disney+:

    • “The Last Repair Shop”: Kris Bowers and Ben Proudfoot’s film won the Oscar for Best Documentary Short Subject.
      This film follows several artisans in Los Angeles and is available to watch on YouTube and Disney+.

    In Theaters:

    • Released in January, Yórgos Lánthimos’s film continues to be screened in numerous French cinemas.
      Emma Stone, in the lead role was honored with the Oscar for Best Actress.
      The costumes and sets of “Poor Creatures” were also praised during the awards ceremony.
    • Da’Vine Joy Randolph won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in “Winter Break,” Alexander Payne’s eighth feature film.
      This film, evoking nostalgia for classic American cinema of the 1970s, is still playing in theaters.
    • “The Interest Zone”: Jonathan Glazer’s film, inspired by the story of Nazi Rudolf Höss, won the award for Best Foreign Film.

    France.tv:

    • “20 Days in Marioupol”
      Directed by Mstyslav Chernov, war correspondent and photographer for the Associated Press, tells the story of a team of Ukrainian journalists trapped in Marioupol, a city besieged by the Russian army.
      This documentary won the Oscar for Best Documentary and can be streamed for free on the France.tv website.

The title of the series is inspired by a passage from the novel “The World of Yesterday” by Stefan Zweig, often cited by the protagonists: “There was only one thing to do: to withdraw into oneself and remain silent as long as the fever and delirium of others lasted.”

 

 

 

“Feud : Capote vs. The Swans”

After the rivalry between Joan Crawford and Bette Davis, Ryan Murphy delves into Truman Capote and his high-society friends in the second season of Feud. In 1975, the famous writer betrays his friends, whom he called his “swans,” by publishing some of their unspeakable secrets in Esquire magazine. An offense that accelerated his social and artistic downfall. His close ones shun him, and he never recovers, sinking into his addictions.

“Full Circle”, created by Steven Soderbergh and written by Ed Solomon, is a six-episode series featuring two intertwined plots set in New York.

In Manhattan, Sam and Derek, a bourgeois couple, find their lives turned upside down when they receive a mysterious phone call claiming to have kidnapped their son, Jared. However, the teenager soon reappears at home, casting doubt on the truth of this alleged disappearance.

In Queens, Savitri Mahabir, the leader of a criminal group of Guyanese origin, seeks to avenge the death of her brother-in-law by planning the kidnapping of a teenager named Jared, the grandson of a famous chef, Jeff.

 

 

Mister Spade,” directed by Scott Frank and starring Clive Owen, follows the American detective Sam Spade, who now resides in France in the small town of Bozouls, seeking peace and tranquility.

However, the gruesome discovery of six brutally murdered nuns thrusts him into a murky investigation.

This series serves as a sequel to the renowned film “The Maltese Falcon” by John Huston (1941), based on the novel of the same name by Dashiell Hammett. Set 20 years after the original story, the six 52-minute episodes follow detective Sam Spade as he returns to action.
