Synopsis
Bellisha is 27 and leads the life of a small retiree. He goes to the café, shops, strolls around the city…
He lives with his mother Giselle, who doesn’t go out much and to whom he pretends he’s firmly integrated into working life.
But the tide turns when Giselle realizes that they are the last Jews on the estate. She becomes convinced that they too must leave.
Bellisha doesn’t really want to, but to reassure his mother, he makes her believe he’s preparing their departure.

Racha (Bee) Feldman: Bracha (Bee) Feldman is the documentary’s screenwriter and co-producer.
In New York, Dropkin was part of the burgeoning Yiddish cultural scene of the 1920s and 1930s.
Despite the praise she received for her avant-garde work, she never gained the respect of her male counterparts.
She was criticized for depicting women as sexual beings and struggled with depression. Celia Dropkin wrote about this and the darker side of love. The poet died in 1956, having spent the last years of her life painting.

For decades, mime artist Marcel Marceau fascinated generations of spectators with his legendary BIP character. As a child of the Holocaust, he joined the Resistance and took Jewish children to Switzerland, teaching them to express themselves solely through gestures.
After the war, unable to talk about his experiences, he perfected his mime skills.
Inspired by his deaf father, the Swiss director paints a poetic portrait of an exceptional artist who succeeded in defining language, in its noblest form, through silence.
FESTIVAL DIASPORAMA : EL AMOR EN SU LUGAR, RODRIGO CORTES
The play was first performed on January 16, 1942 at the Femina theater in the Warsaw ghetto. While the dialogue, written by Jerzy Jurandot, has survived, the music has been lost.
The show] was written by Jerzy Jurandot while he was in the ghetto, and was performed inside the ghetto.
There’s something beautiful here: it’s a funny show, which is paradoxical because the Jews laugh at themselves and their conditions, the cold, hunger, death, torture by the Jewish police, the corruption of the Jewish Council… They laugh at everything except the Germans, which was forbidden.
Love Between Four Walls, originally titled Miłość szuka mieszkania (“Love Seeks Apartment”), was performed for four weeks in early 1942. A few months later, the first deportations began.
What is less well known, however, is the existence of five theaters inside the Warsaw ghetto: the Eldorado, the Femina, the New Azazel, the Cameri Theater and the Fifth Floor.
From September 1940 to September 1941, 1,814 performances took place in these theaters, including eight concerts.
By November 1940, the ghetto was home to over 450 artists, including 187 actors and directors, 157 musicians, 87 writers, 25 painters and sculptors.
Shot in English from the original dialogues, El amor en su lugar is both a film and a play.

DIASPORAMA FESTIVAL: SHOSHANA, Michael Winterbottom
Inspired by true events, this political thriller is set in Tel Aviv in 1930s Mandate Palestine.
Thomas Wilkin is in love with the city and with Shoshana Borochov.
He and his colleague Geoffrey Morton work for the British Palestine Police. They are tracking the poet and Zionist activist Avraham Stern, who is plotting to oust the British authorities.
