Wild Horse Nine, by Martin McDonagh
In theaters November 4 · 1h58 · Searchlight Pictures · Volpi Cup for Best Actor, Venice 2026
Chile, 1973. Two CIA agents, Chris (John Malkovich) and Lee (Sam Rockwell), head to Easter Island on the eve of the coup against Salvador Allende. Martin McDonagh returns to the blueprint of In Bruges: two worn-out men, a remote setting, razor-sharp dialogue and a melancholy lurking beneath the black comedy. The film drew the longest ovation of the Venice Film Festival, where John Malkovich won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor. Steve Buscemi, Parker Posey and Tom Waits round out the cast.
Coward (Les Braves), by Lukas Dhont
In theaters November 18 · 2h08 · Diaphana · Best Actor Prize and Positive Cinema Award, Cannes 2026
1916, the Belgian front. Pierre (Emmanuel Macchia) joins the troops, eager to prove himself. Behind the lines, Francis (Valentin Campagne) stages shows to keep the soldiers’ spirits up. After Girl and Close, Lukas Dhont delivers a luminous love story, almost a musical, inspired by a 1914 photograph of a Belgian soldier dressed as a woman. Both actors shared the Best Actor Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, in Emmanuel Macchia’s first screen role.
Everytime, by Sandra Wollner
In theaters November 11 · New Story · Un Certain Regard Prize, Cannes 2026
A tragedy brings together a mother, her younger daughter and a teenage boy. The trio travels to Tenerife for a family holiday that once only existed as a plan, and the past slowly seeps into the present. Austrian director Sandra Wollner won the Un Certain Regard Prize, and Birgit Minichmayr earned glowing reviews as the mother. Aftersun cinematographer Gregory Oke shot the film, Germany’s entry for the Best International Feature Oscar.
Double Freedom (La libertad doble), by Lisandro Alonso
In theaters November 25 · 1h40 · Météore Films · Directors’ Fortnight 2026
Twenty-five years after La libertad, Lisandro Alonso reunites with Misael, a solitary woodcutter in the Argentine Pampas. An unexpected responsibility upends days ruled by the swing of his axe. Screened in the Directors’ Fortnight, the film stood among the critics’ favorites in Cannes. A hybrid of documentary and fiction made for the big screen.
A Good Little Soldier (Un bon petit soldat), by Stéphane Brizé
In theaters November 25 · 1h42 · Competition, Venice 2026
Carla (Alba Rohrwacher), newly hired head of HR at a major insurance company, must balance employee well-being with performance targets. A case of toxic management forces her into compromise. In theaters November 4 · 1h42 · Out of Competition, Cannes 2026
November 1972, the Bobigny courthouse. Sixteen-year-old Marie-Claire Chevalier stands trial for an illegal abortion, alongside her mother and the women who helped her. Their lawyer, Gisèle Halimi, chooses to put the law itself on trial. Charlotte Gainsbourg plays Halimi and Cécile de France the mother, with Grégory Gadebois and Sarah Suco. The trial became a milestone in the fight for abortion rights in France.
Jupiter, by Alexandre Smia
In theaters November 18 · 1h27 · Venice 2026
Paul Archambault has just taken office as French president when his Russian counterpart, the target of an assassination attempt, issues a nuclear ultimatum against one of France’s allies. The president gathers his staff in Jupiter, the underground command post beneath the Élysée Palace, to weigh every option and contain the escalation. In his first feature, co-written with Thomas Finkielkraut, Alexandre Smia sustains a tense, race-against-time chamber piece. Denis Ménochet leads a heavyweight cast: André Dussollier, Reda Kateb, Dominique Blanc, Ella Rumpf, Frédéric Pierrot, Céline Sallette and Cédric Kahn. Produced by Chi-Fou-Mi Productions, the film screened at the Venice Film Festival.
Paper Tiger, by James Gray
In theaters November 25 · 1h55 · Competition, Cannes 2026
Queens, 1986. Two brothers, played by Miles Teller and Adam Driver, join forces on a deal tied to the Russian mob, and the opportunity turns into a trap for the whole family. Scarlett Johansson completes the trio. For his sixth Cannes competition entry, James Gray returns to his obsessions: New York, family loyalty, the mirage of the American dream. Critics split, and Adam Driver drew the strongest praise.
Il faut brûler Maman, by Albert Dupontel
In theaters November 11 · 1h35 · Pathé
In a family of undertakers, two sisters and a brother reunite for their mother’s funeral. With the staff on strike, they must carry out the funeral rites themselves. Forty Love, by Pierre-Ange Carlotti
In theaters November 25 · First feature
Twenty-one-year-old Sacha Gallo dreams of winning his first major title in Paris, coached by his father. A rival’s arrival shakes his certainties, and the court becomes an arena of desire as much as competition. In his first feature, Pierre-Ange Carlotti films professional tennis as a field of romantic tension, with Paul Kircher, Romeo Beckham, Guillaume Canet, Benjamin Voisin and Catherine Deneuve. A romantic drama bridging French cinema’s rising generation and one of its legends.
Classe libre, by Ambroise Sabbagh
In theaters November 25 · Documentary · Angoulême Francophone Film Festival 2025
Each year, the Cours Florent drama school selects a handful of students for its tuition-free elite program, the Classe libre. Ambroise Sabbagh follows class 43 as it prepares its final show, just before each student steps into the profession. Rehearsals blend personal ambition, ensemble work and doubts about the job market. A look at how tomorrow’s French actors are made.
